Active Professors
The frequently cited ESB spirit lives not only in the numerous activities of the student body but also through the special commitment of the professors. Apart from teaching our professors are active in business, politics and society in many ways and thus contribute to a lively dialogue between academia and society.

Arbeitskreis Sportökonomie e.V. (Working Group Sports Business Administration) (Prof. Dr. Gerd Nufer)
The Arbeitskreis Sportökonomie e.V. sees itself as a centre of communication between academics and practically working sports managers. Sport is at the center of all considerations. Here economic methods and instruments from business administration and economics and related areas are used in order to gain new insights. A hands-on orientation – as required from an applied science – is always important. The working group offers help to sports practitioners, that is, sports clubs and associations but also other sports organisations. The working group offers consulting, draws attention to specific study programmes at universities and universities of applied sciences and other educational institutes and points out new occupational fields in the areas of sports management and sports business administration.
Prof. Dr. Gerd Nufer, editor of the book of selected essays on “Management und Marketing im Sport. Betriebswirtschaftliche Grundlagen und Anwendungen der Sportökonomie“ (hrsg. zus. m. André Bühler, Erich Schmidt Verlag, Berlin 2008) was admitted to the working group due to the recommendation of two renowned advisors in 2009. (The recommendation by advisors who are already members is a prerequisite for being admitted to the working group.)

Internationaler Controller Verein (International Controller Association) (Prof. Dr. Christoph Binder)
The wish to gain important impulses from academia and to correspond better to the diversity of business were among the reasons that prompted the extension of the ICV board of trustees. Weise, renowned experts from business and industry, the board of trustees now numbers 11 members. The board of eleven will, also in future, carry out a consulting role for the ICV board of management and support the work of the ICV in important matters. IZA Policy Fellows 2010-2015 (Prof. Dr. Bodo Herzog)

Professor Herzog is member of the IZA Policy Fellows for the next five years. IZA is the first German research institute to implement this innovative approach to an enhanced intellectual exchange between academic research and political practice.
